Sizing concrete driveways in Ridge Manor for trucks and trailers
Ridge Manor sits where Cortez Blvd (SR 50), US 98 and US 301 cross east Hernando. If you park a pickup, a work trailer or a boat on a lot off McKethan Rd or Treiman Blvd, a concrete driveway in Ridge Manor should be built for that weight from the start. The usual residential minimum is 4 inches. Going to 5 inches adds roughly 20% to the concrete cost and nearly 50% to what the slab can carry, and at 5 inches and up we switch from wire mesh to rebar on about a 12 inch grid.
Width matters as much as depth for concrete driveways in Ridge Manor. Where a trailer swings in off the road, we widen the apron and thicken the outer edges where tires run off the slab. Our driveway and walkway service page has the standard spec; this page covers what changes on lots here.
When the flood map decides the permit
Thirteen of 30 sample points here fell in FEMA zone AE, the largest flood-zone share of the inland Hernando towns we serve, with the Withlacoochee River crossing the area. That number drives the paperwork, as our Ridge Manor concrete contractors page explains for every kind of pour. Hernando County's local permit exemptions do not apply to any parcel inside a Special Flood Hazard Area, and the state HB 803 exemption for single-family work under $7,500 does not either. Hernando's exemption request form makes the owner certify the parcel is not in a regulated flood hazard area, so there is no gray zone.
If your lot is in zone AE, plan on the county's $140 flat fee for a residential driveway slab from the house to the right of way, plus the surcharges listed in the Hernando County fee resolution, and an application through the county's Tyler portal. You can look up your own zone by address on the county's Forerunner map, linked from its flood zone page. The permit guide covers the Notice of Commencement and the rest of the county steps.
