Concrete contractors in Inverness: whose permit desk is yours, city or county

The first question on any Inverness pour is which side of the city line your lot sits on. Inside city limits, the City of Inverness issues its own building permits, in person or through its online portal, and the application needs two signatures: yours as the property owner and ours as the contractor. Citrus County sends anyone inside Inverness city limits to the city. Outside them, including Inverness Highlands South, the Citrus County Building Division handles the permit through its Accela portal.

The city posts its own Notice of Commencement form, an Owner/Builder Disclosure and its fee schedules. Slab installation depends on what is under the lot, and Inverness isn't one soil. Before concrete contractors in Inverness price a slab, they should be able to tell you which of these your lot sits on. Candler fine sand, which drains fast and carries a slab well once it's compacted, showed up at 11 of our 30 sample points. Lake fine sand turned up at 3. But Basinger fine sand, a poorly drained soil with a water table as shallow as about 15 cm, also showed up at 3 points, and USDA rates it very limited for building.
